Lupe Fiasco – I’m Beamin
The music video off of Lupe’s next album, ‘Lasers’ – I like the art direction in the video, refreshing; something different.

Yes, they do exist, and have existed since the 1960’s or so – the first popular black super heroes such as ‘Falcon’, and ‘Black Panther’ were introduced to cater to different audiences that were emerging. Jumping forward, the most popular adaptation of a Black Superhero would have to be Will Smith’s portrayal of Hancock released in 2008. And with Hollywood’s fascination of imaginary worlds and characters, the releases of the Iron Man series, X-Men, Avatar, and Transformers, have resurged the comic book industry – whom we once thought was dying, but is surging as they are adapting their content to new mediums (such as Apple’s iPad).

Something for the BlackBerry phreaks to get hype about it; it does look like they have taken some cues from the iPhone OS and Android OS to make things more intuitive – has a much cleaner interface. This new OS should still appeal to BlackBerry’s base, and may appeal to those that want an iPhone-like experience – without the dismal AT&T service. Only flaw with the ad is the bizarre dancing by the headless people – gets kinda weird after awhile. One of the biggest features for the OS 6 is the much anticipated native browser – it is actually a real browser now, and has the ability to have multiple tabs(pages) open simultaneously. A little late in the game, but hey, at least they are participating.

IKEA Heights from DaveAOK on Vimeo.
“Friend of Epic Fu and general good guy Dave Seger is one of the creators of Ikea Heights, a melodrama (read: understatement) set in an Ikea store in Burbank, California. And I mean they literally film the show in an Ikea store without the store’s knowledge, and with customers milling about.
They produced the show for Channel 101, the grandaddy of all funny video sites created by Dan Harmon and Rob Schrab that keeps on chugging along and discovering new talent. This is episode 1 of Ikea Heights. Check out the others on Vimeo (Episode 2, Episode 3, Episode 4) or at the Channel 101 show site.”
Goes to show that Guerilla film making is not only for the streets ….
Deconstructing Ke$ha from jeff on Vimeo.
Funny footage from itsthereal.com as they go in on Ke$ha’s hit single, and especially focusing on the line, “Wake up in the morning feeling like P Diddy”.

Charles Hamilton tries to plead his case to get back into the hip-hop game.

Heard this track via Mixtapeshow.net, and thought it was fresh, different, and something that the game needs: some classic lines “give you your last words, because etiquette matters” – classic. The group is called Sandpeople, based out of the Northwest of the U.S. (guessing like Seattle or something).

Prior to 2001, Apple was a struggling computer manufacturer, trying to deal with Windows based machines and software; many have written them off, but they dropped the iPod in 2001, and it has to be one of the defining items of the 2000’s. Since launching on October 23, 2001, the iPod has sold over 240 million units worldwide as of January 2010. Here are some creative iPod digital art renditions.

Sourced from Adweek:
“Social media specialist Vitrue, which aids brands in building their customer bases on social networks, tried to put a media value on such communities.
The firm has determined that, on average, a fan base of 1 million translates into at least $3.6 million in equivalent media over a year.”
This translates to the fact that the more followers and/or fans that you have on social networking sites, the more leverage or value one possesses. Which in turn suggests that advertisers should pay more for an ad on a profile page with 1 million followers, than a profile page that has 5,000 followers – creating an advertising economy of scale based on influence. Seems like we are in high school all over again, but this “Influenced Economy” may be a viable way for social media companies to actually start making money, and have a real business model.

An example of when an advertising concept is not thoroughly thought through – I get bringing the classic Looney Toons carton characters, but how do you have the Chicken in the cartoon discussing about eating other chickens? Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) has been known to create bad TV ads, and this is just another one to that long list.

New Adidas campaign for spring 2010 feat. Whitney Prort, David Beckam, Snoop Dogg, amongst others; again like last year’s campaign, Adidas is bringing that old school, funk style to their brand. Good commercial.
