Notorious B.I.G. and Diddy on Martin
A classic clip of Biggie and Puff on the Martin show.
Entertainment: The nonsense that entertainers get away with, that us normal people would be arrested for.
A classic clip of Biggie and Puff on the Martin show.

This mixtape takes one back down memory lane to the late 90’s to early 2000’s when the hip-hop game was fierce with lyrical competition from the likes of Freeway, Beenie Siegel, Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Camron, Juelz Santana and others. DJ Whiteowl produces a nice blend of popular and underground tracks.

The Notorious movie is about the life & times of Notorious B.I.G., the popular rapper that rose to stardom in the mid 90’s, but was murdered in 1997 in Los Angeles California. B.I.G. was a great rapper that has sold millions of records, and is a trailblazer, and has influenced the entire hip-hop game. This movie, supported by Sean Diddy Combs, and Loretta Wallace (B.I.G.’s mother), and is being brought to us by Fox Searchlight Films. My only concern that this movie does B.I.G.’s legacy justice by telling an accurate and compelling story of Christopher Wallace’s life & times. I hope its not one of the typical urban films that have weak/limited story lines, already, many people that known B.I.G. such as Lil Kim and Easy Mo Bee (one of B.I.G.’s original producers) are already crying foul that the film is missing some key elements – they could be crying foul because they were not consulted when the movie was being made, but that is another story.
This movie drops on January 16, 2009 in North America, and let’s hope that it helps build the legacy of Brooklyn’s Finest …

It seems like YouTube is finally emerging with a business model, well, I don’t know if its for YouTube, or for others. Universal Music seems to be generating a substantial piece of change from its partnership with YouTube:
“(YouTube) is not like radio, where it’s just promotional,” said Caraeff, who heads up Universal’s digital group. “It’s a revenue stream, a commercial business. It’s growing tremendously. It’s up almost 80 percent for us year-over-year in the U.S. in terms of our revenue from this category.””(YouTube) is not like radio, where it’s just promotional,” said Caraeff, who heads up Universal’s digital group. “It’s a revenue stream, a commercial business. It’s growing tremendously. It’s up almost 80 percent for us year-over-year in the U.S. in terms of our revenue from this category.”
This is encouraging for the recording industry, as the old model of CD’s are dying, and record labels need to find creative/new ways to market their products. For 2008, Universal Music artists dominate the most watched viewed videos on YouTube; and Universal shares the advertising revenue with YouTube. Last week, Warner Music canceled a partnership agreement with Youtube over copyright issues. What Warner music needs to understand is that in this day of age, vigilantly trying to protect the availability of ‘free music’ will have adverse side effects; labels need to embrace the digital technology, as Universal Music is saying that Youtube is actually increasing its album sales.
Hopefully, the other record labels will get hip to this trend, and find better ways to market their music than on an oddly shaped plastic disc.

Weird Al parodies T.I.’s smash hit ‘whatever you like’.
Usually, Weird Al is kind of corny, but this song is pretty on-point as it fits the current economic crisis that the world is going through.

Though sometimes misjudged as a complete moron, Homer is actually a deft manipulator of the oxymoron: “Oh Bart, don’t worry, people die all the time. In fact, you could wake up dead tomorrow.” And our favorite figure of ridicule is actually quite handy with figures of speech. To explain human behavior, for instance, he relies on personification:
The only monster here is the gambling monster that has enslaved your mother! I call him Gamblor, and it’s time to snatch your mother from his neon claws!
Chiasmus guides Homer to new levels of self-understanding:
All right, brain, I don’t like you and you don’t like me–so let’s just do this, and I’ll get back to killing you with beer.
And here, in just five words, he manages to combine apostrophe and tricolon in a heartfelt encomium: “Television! Teacher, mother, secret lover.”
E-Shy disses Obama, Ludacris
This is an interesting video, or a collage of images/videos with an audio track layed over it from a NYC based white Jewish rapper, E-Shy goes in on Obama’s policies, Obama’s deflection from the issues, and makes a strong argument to why he shouldn’t be president. Of course, like all rappers, E-Shy attacks Obama’s manhood, and even goes after Michelle Obama. Its good to see hip-hop getting political again.
